Pilot Mentorship FAQs
Virtual pilot mentorship delivers one-on-one flight instruction online via video session. You connect with a qualified Feathers Aviation instructor who provides structured ground training tailored to your knowledge gaps, certificate goals, or exam preparation needs — on your schedule, with no requirement to be near a flight school.
Our mentors are certified flight instructors (CFIs) with real-world professional aviation backgrounds. They bring experience across a range of aircraft and operations — from private training to commercial and instrument instruction — and are selected for their technical expertise and ability to teach clearly and effectively.
Sessions cover the full range of aviation ground knowledge: aerodynamics, meteorology, airspace and regulations, instrument procedures, navigation, aircraft systems, crew resource management, emergency procedures, and written exam preparation for certificates from Private Pilot through ATP. Content is structured around your specific needs.
Yes. Whether you are researching aviation as a future career, preparing for your first lesson, or studying for your Private Pilot written exam, sessions are adapted to your current level. No prior flight experience is needed to benefit from structured ground instruction with a professional instructor.
This is one of the most effective uses of virtual mentorship. Pairing online ground instruction with active flight lessons accelerates your progress significantly. Concepts covered in your evening session reinforce what you practised in the aircraft that afternoon, compressing your training timeline and improving retention.
Session lengths are flexible and arranged around your schedule and study goals. Most students book one-hour sessions, though longer blocks are available for intensive exam preparation or comprehensive subject reviews. Both single sessions and structured multi-week series are available.
Select a date on the booking calendar on this page to schedule a virtual session with a Feathers Aviation flight instructor. After booking you will receive a confirmation with your video session link and any preparation materials your instructor recommends. Sessions are typically available within a few days of booking.
A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and a stable internet connection is all that is required. A quiet space where you can focus without interruption is helpful. Depending on the session topic, your instructor may suggest having a sectional chart, E6B, or your study materials on hand. No specialist software is required.
